Deputy Rector


Mrs. Oluchi, Ann Olofin, a registered and licensed Dental Therapist (RDTh), and an erudite scholar in the field of Dental Therapy and Public Health. She is a graduate of Dental Therapy; obtained her Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and MSc Degree in Physical & Health Education from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) in 2002 and 2006 respectively. She has completed her doctorate coursework, and at the concluding stage of her degree dissertation in Public Health. She is specialised in Community Health Promotion and Education, with the aim of promoting oral health care delivery, especially among those ignorant of the need to visiting dental clinics, for adequate oral health care.

She is a member of notable professional bodies, including: National Association of Dental Therapists of Nigeria (NADTH); Foundation for African Development through International Bio-Technology (FADIB); and American Public Health Association (APHA). She is also a research member with the Research and Development Network (RDN) of the International Research and Development Institute (IRDI). She was conferred with the Fellowship Award for Distinguished Professional contribution to Industrial Administration by the Institute. This offer qualifies her as a senior member of the institute, and entitles her to append the designator letters, FIIA, after her name. In recognition of her numerous contributions to the Dental Therapy education and dedication to duty, she was recommended and thereafter appointed by the Federal Minister of Health, Professor Babatunde Osotimehin, as a Board Member to the Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (2010-2014); Member, Registration & Practice Committee, Dental Therapist Registration Board of Nigeria (2010-2014); Member, Research & Education Committee, Dental Therapist Registration Board of Nigeria ((2010-2014); Member, Finance & General Purpose Committee (FGPC), Dental Therapist Registration Board of Nigeria (2010-2014).

As a seasoned academic, Mrs. Olofin has presented academic and professional papers at national and international conferences, and workshops, and has to her credit papers published in reputable local and international journals. Oluchi Olofin has authored five books:

1 – Fundamental Concepts of Primary Health Care Delivery System;

2 – Fundamental Principles of Human Anatomy & Physiology;

3 – Clinical (Hands-on) Practice of the Dental Practitioners;

4 – Dental Therapy Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning; and

5 – Further Concepts of Primary Health Care delivery system (with special emphasis on Community Mobilisation, Participation and Social Change.


She has been proved to be a good academic administrator, and has served in the Federal College of Dental Technology & Therapy, Enugu, Nigeria, as: Head, Guidance & Counselling Department (2004-2006); Head, Department of Dental Therapy (2006-2010); Member, Editorial Board, Dental School Magazine (2007-Date); Member, Examination Malpractice Committee (2008-2010); Member, Examinations Committee (2008-2012); and Chairman, Examinations Committee (2012-2016).

By the special grace of God, Oluchi Olofin was appointed the Deputy Rector of the same institution in December 2016, where she oversees the academic activities, ensuring compliance to the ethics of the health professional bodies in the newly-created Faculties – Faculty of Dental Technology & Engineering; Faculty of Dental Therapy & Health Sciences; and Faculty of Applied Science & General Studies, and upholding the standard of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Also, she has been a member of accreditation visitation team to polytechnics and monotechnics organized by the NBTE.

In furtherance to the service of humanity and to the Dental Therapy regulatory body, Mrs. Oluchi Olofin was re-appointed a Board Member of Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria in February 2017, which was inaugurated in April 2017, by the incumbent Federal Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole.

Mrs. Olofin is happily married and blessed with godly children.
