ABOUT THE COLLEGE LIBRARY
Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy Enugu, like every other Institution of higher learning have a state of the art Library fully equipped with books and non-book materials for research, learning, self development and pleasure, it has a functional e-library as well.
The Library has materials in various field of study such as:
- Bio medical Engineering
- Dental Technology
- Dental Therapy
- Dental Nursing
- Natural Sciences
- General Studies
- Social Sciences
- Periodicals and Daily Newspapers
The Library has different sections for carrying out different functions, these sections include:
Technical Services Section:
- Cataloguing and classification of materials
- Acquisition and processing of materials
- Users/patron’s registration, clearance, charging and discharging
- Other duties associated with this unit.
Reference Section: Materials housed in this section include; Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Thesaurus, Gazettes Etc.
Serials Section: Houses Newspapers, Magazines, Journals.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES RENDERED BY THE LIBRARY
The Library offers the following professional services to their users.
The Library provides printing, binding and photocopying services to their users. This reprographic service in the Library reduces the rate of mutilation and stealing of Library materials.
Inter-Library Loan Services:
This service helps users obtain materials that are not immediately stocked by their Libraries. The Library assists users secure a book on loan from another Library through the Inter-Library lending.
This is another function performed by the library to its users. It is an instruction to enlighten particularly new students and new staff on the use of library facilities. During the period, the various sections and officers of the library are identified and introduced to the new staff and students. The reason is to minimize the level of confusion that usually hangs over new staff and students on their use of the library.
This is a library service that allows users to borrow the books for use either outside or within the library for a certain period of time. The duration of the loan is one week for students and two weeks for the staff.
